We’re thrilled to introduce the Guía de México—your essential resource to explore Mexico through its food, drinks, culture, and the people who make it all happen. Created for bartenders and enthusiasts alike, the guide is now available online, featuring exclusive bartender profiles, interactive maps, and curated food and drink recommendations. With spotlights on architecture and cultural celebrations, it’s a vibrant, all-in-one look at Mexico’s regions through the eyes of locals. Our journey began at Hacienda Patrón, where we connected with friends and bartenders who shared their top recommendations, taking us from well-loved venues to hidden gems across Mexico. To kick things off, we set out to explore El Norte, traveling through Ciudad Juárez and Chihuahua with Óscar Olvera, former Patrón Perfectionists Mexico Winner, as our guide. What we found was a land rich in tradition and innovation, where flavors, stories, and craftsmanship bring El Norte’s spirit to life.

In Ciudad Juárez, we met second-generation burrito maker Luis Aril Anzures Padilla, owner of Burritos Crisostomos, who shared the history and proper way to create and savor this iconic dish. We also stepped back in time with Teodoro Morales at Kentucky Bar, where he unraveled the captivating origins of yet another gem of El Norte, the Margarita. One of the most memorable parts of the journey was venturing through Chihuahua’s dunes and mountain passes to meet the maestros behind the region’s thriving sotol community. From the earthy tones of sotol to the bustling market stalls where traditional ingredients abound, each experience illuminated the rich cultural tapestry of El Norte, adding depth and flavor to the stories we share in Guía de México. Looking ahead, we’re excited for the next leg of our journey in Oaxaca, where mezcal, local flavors, and a lively bar scene await. This is just the beginning of our exploration, and we can’t wait for you to join us as we dive deeper into the world of Mexico’s most celebrated ingredients and iconic drinks.
